Blogs are a great way to get exposure on the Internet. Why? Content. Search engines love content, and blogs obviously have tons of content for the robot spiders (software that search engines use to find content on blogs and web sites) to find.

Now that you have your content, you need to get your articles listed in the search engines and make it easy for consistent readers to know when you have posted another article. This is where syndication comes into play. Rich Site Summary or RSS is a format used to syndicate your content instantly. After you write an article, be sure to ping content gathering sites. Also, make it easy for your visitors to find your RSS so they can enter it into their Feed Reader.

Do you want even more traffic to your site. Make sure you are posting comments or providing content to other blogs in your industry. This way you have links back to your blog on other sites. Pluse you are on the way of being seen as an expert in your field.

Are you serious about blogging? Here is another stradegy to be in the top of the search engines. Create your own multi-blog site. This is a blogging site where you have many contributors/users, or multiple blog sites on the same topic. For example, you own a travel agency and have many agents. You could create a multi-blog site with each of your agents having their own blog posting on various travel topics. Then all of the blog sites that you manage will have links on the Internet that send people back to your multi-blog site that has info on your company.
